Korean Express
In a South Korean hamlet,Cho-won,a young autistic boy,discovers the sport of running. Thus begins Cho-wons struggle as he and his mother try to chase his marathon of a dream. The 2005 Korean film,Marathon,which narrates the boys journey,will be screened at India Habitat Centre on June 18. The movie is a part of a collection of Korean films that will be screened as part of the Korean Film Festival organised by the Korean embassy. The other films include Haeundae (June 19),South Koreas first disaster film,about a Tsunami survivor,and The Host (June 27),which deals with the implications of American military presence in Korea. The festival is on till the end of the month.
Idol Fixation
Kshay,which officially released in India on June 15,comes wrapped in impressive credentials. It has bagged the Grand Jury prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (2012) and Best Director at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York (2011) among others. Now,after a long exercise to find an Indian distributor,the 92-minute black-and-white film will be screened as part of PVRs Directors Rare in Delhi and Mumbai. Directed by the Mumbai-based Karan Gour,the film revolves around a woman who is overwhelmed with her own intangible desires and obsesses over an unfinished idol of Lakshmi.
Gour,for his part,is still trying for a commercial release.
Eat to Win
Heres your chance to uphold the virtues of gluttony. A food marathon,being organised in the Capital,promises to test your eating prowess. To be held at Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles on June 17,the Food Sprint will have participants tucking into heaps of food,including delicacies from several popular restaurants. Winners need not stop munching they will receive gift packs from the participating restaurants.
