Birla Vidya Niketan celebrates annual Athletic Meet
Birla Vidya Niketan celebrated its Annual Athletic Meet on December 24. The students’ energy dispelled the morning chill and the meet commenced with the opening ceremony. The chief guest,Padmashree Santosh Yadav,declared the meet open.The Opening Ceremony set the right chord for the day with the march past of all the houses with their houses,and their respective flags held high in the air. The students marched with military perfection and took oath to live up to the sportsman spirit. The four outstanding students namely Pranav Malhotra,an international lawn tennis player,Pranav Khatter,an international badminton player,Shashank Kukreja and Priyanka Bhargava,national athletes took the torch relay for their extraordinary sports achievements. The vivid and vibrant displays by the students ensured a mass participation of around thousand students. Class VI presented a ‘Sunshine Drill’,followed by yogic postures,martial arts and gymnastics by Class VII. ‘The Waiving Flag’ drill performed to a live music by Class VIII rose the temperature high and to keep the momentum ‘Martial Combat’ a dance aerobics was presented by Classes IX and X. The prizes for the championships were distributed later.
Scholar badge ceremony at DPS,RK Puram
On December 22,DPS RK Puram hosted the scholar badge ceremony for Class X students. The occasion was graced by Vineet Joshi ,the Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The event commenced with a musical performance that left the audience spellbound. The school choir presented an ebullient self-composed song,Love and friendship. This enchanting experience was followed by a beautifully coordinated fusion of Kathak and Bharatnatyam ,the Apsara dance and a Spanish dance by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra. The principal,D R Saini welcomed all the dignitaries and parents. The principal expressed his views about CCE and the importance of formative assessment. He presented the various achievements of the school before the audience. Students voiced their opinion on achieving ones true potential ,stressing on the importance of overcoming obstacles and achieving the goals of tomorrow. The chief guest,Mr.Vineet Joshi,expressed his views on todays highly competitive world. Finally,the wait for the momentous scholar badge distribution ceremony ended . Sarika Kaushal,the representative of Classes XI-X,announced the names of the recipients of the blue badges and blazers for academic excellence,and red badges and blazers for achievements in extra-curricular activities. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks.
St Marks school hosts delegation from Singapore
St Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School Meera Bagh,hosted a seven-member student delegation from Millennia Institute,Singapore,led by their teacher David Toh. During their week long visit to the school,the Singaporean students were hosted by the families of the Indian students. The students of the Heritage Club of the school took the delegation for Dilli Darshan to see the beautiful Qutub Minar,Rashtrapati Bhavan,Parliament House,Lotus Temple and Humayun’s Tomb. The delegation also watched a laser show at Purana Quila,highlighting the 100 years of Delhi. The delegation was awestruck to see the splendor of the Taj Mahal when they visited Agra. One of the highlights of their trip was the participation in a video conference with schools from US,Israel and Kenya,which emphasised on being friends forever. The students of Millennia School floored the students of St. Mark’s School by performing a dance number a fusion of some dance forms that hail from different origins and is reflective of the cultural melting pot that Singapore is. They also performed a skit to showcase their country and its culture. One of the special mentions was the art of Chinese Calligraphy that the Singaporean students taught to their Indian counterparts. It was indeed a cultural exchange programme to cherish forever.
DAV Dwarka wins laurels in various competitions
DAV Dwarka proved its mettle once again by winning distinctive positions in different competitions organised by Rainbow Public School,Janakpuri. Nishant Chachar of Class VII bagged third position in the on-the-spot painting competition in the sub-junior category. He was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 400,a trophy and a merit certificate. In the English Declamation Competition,Vibha Meena of Class X got consolation prize and received a cash prize of Rs 200 and a certificate. Principal S S Mukhija acknowledged the efforts of the winners and felicitated them in the morning assembly.
Delhi Public School,Rohini,hosts Alchemania 2011
To mark the International Year of chemistry,DPS Rohini hosted Alchemania-2011,an Inter School Event,on December 10,2011. The unifying theme for the event was Chemistry: Our life,our future,aimed at raising awareness on chemistry among the youth and highlighting the role of chemistry in solving global problems. Virendra Srivastava,Advisory Board Nominee,Member Managing Committee,DPS Rohini,Dr G S Adikari,Advisory Board Nominee,Member, Managing Committee,DPS Rohini,and Suraj Prakash,Principal,CRPF School(Retd),were the guests of honour. The school principal,Rita Sen,welcomed the guests and said that such celebrations generate enthusiasm for the subject and. provide a suitable platform for the young to exchange ideas and foster a scientific temperament. Around 22 schools of Delhi participated in five interactive and educational events: Innovision,Chemchrome,Oscillation,Science Champs and Cutting Edge. DPS Rohini won the trophy but,being the host school,it was passed to the next deserving team from DPS Gurgaon. DPS Indirapuram won the runners up trophy.
