School Notes: Australian delegation visits Springdales,Pusa Road

Springdales School,Pusa Road hosted a 25-member delegation of Australian principals under the aegis of the Asian Education Foundation,Government of Australia for an annual interaction between school leaders from India and Australia on August 27.

An overview on trends in Indian education and the benefits and challenges of educational reforms in the 21st century was presented by Springdales School principal Ameeta Mulla Wattal. L V Sehgal,Principal,Bal Bharati Public School and Chairman,NPSC,spoke about the reforms taking place in the Indian school system. Nirmalaya Samanta,Associate Professor,Delhi University,gave an informative talk on ‘Education and Social Change in India’. The session was a highly interactive one.

Hillwoods holds art,drama and dance festival

Ingenuity,creativity and innovation was seen at its best in Kalakriti,an art,dance and music festival,organised at Hillwoods Academy. More than 20 schools participated with zeal and enthusiasm to showcase talent,versatility and adroitness in fine arts. In the realm of arts,thematic designs for hand-painting,beautiful sketches on canvas and origami showcased the artistic endeavour of students. Display of imagination and skill in rangoli,paper-quilling and mask-making was admired by the judges. Celebrating the vibrancy of Indian culture,classical music and dance forms were performed by students. Versatility was at its best in the instrumental performance. An art exhibition was also organised during the festival.

Mock SAARC Summit at Mount Carmel School

Mount Carmel School’s Commerce Department teachers Anusuya and Naresh Malhotra conducted a Mock SAARC Summit in the school August 21 and 22. The theme of the summit was ‘Green and safe South Asia’. Core agenda of the meet were terrorism and cooperation on environment. “Delegates” of eight-member nations presented their concerns and views on the agenda. Four resolutions were passed by general voting to resolve the common grievances through cooperation among member-nations and by establishing special forums. The summit ended with a determination to tackle the problems with cooperation for a green and safe South Asia.

Health-related science meet at Abhinav Public School

A health-related Science meet was organised at Abhinav Public School,Pitampura,on August 23. Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj,an eminent doctor,addressed our senior students on the topic “How to maintain good health”. He was accompanied by his team. He delivered a lecture from which students benefitted.

Investiture ceremony at Sneh International School

The newly elected Student Council of SNEH International School,New Rajdhani Enclave,was sworn in on August 14 in an impressive ceremony. The school also celebrated the 66th Independence Day and the chief guest,D K Gupta,Addl DCP,East,unfurled the tri-colour and released balloons and pigeons to mark the celebrations. This was followed by the investiture ceremony. Students of Classes XI and XII took the oath of allegiance to their school and country. The newly elected office-bearers were given their badges and sashes by D K Gupta who also presented the school and house flags to the various captains. Students showcased a ‘Saraswati Vandana’ performance on the occasion. The function was attended by the school chairman Subhash Chander Dhingra and M U Siddiqui who were welcomed by the school principal and director. In his address,D K Gupta invoked the values which are required for being good human beings and leaders. He especially spoke of the necessity for correct work-habits in order to become successful. The difference between a successful and an unsuccessful person was highlighted by him.

Students of St Mark’s School visit Kingdom of Dreams.

St Mark’s Sr Sec Public School,Meera Bagh,organised a fun trip to Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon for students of Classes I to V between August 21 and 24. Kingdom of Dreams — a spectacular world of unparalleled imagination — showcases the Indian culture,architecture,cuisine,crafts and tradition,all under one roof.  The students were fascinated and excited to visit the place. The live performances of traditional folk dances from various states and the magic show enthralled everyone.  Children enjoyed themselves at the artificial beach built on the premises of the Kingdom of Dreams. It was a lively experience and the students cherished it.
