Robbery at DU ex-professor’s home: Domestic help related to a robber, helped the accused, say police
On Monday, when the former DU professor and his wife were held hostage, the domestic help was with them.

Two days after gold and cash were looted from the house of a former Delhi University (DU) professor in Northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar, police said on Wednesday that their domestic help is the cousin of one of the accused and allegedly helped the robbers.
“The domestic help was questioned. She has admitted to her role in the crime,” DCP (North West) Bhisham Singh said.
On Monday, when the former DU professor and his wife were held hostage, the domestic help was with them.
According to police, they received a PCR call around 11.45 am about the incident, which had taken place around 11 am. Police said four assailants stormed into the elderly couple’s house, tied them up and their help, and looted the gold and cash in the house before fleeing in the couple’s car.
“The fingerprints were collected from the spot and were run through the police database. It was found that one of the accused had a case against him in Khajuria. He was found to be related to the domestic help,” an officer privy to the investigation said.
She was allegedly asked by her cousin, one of the four robbers, about the cash and jewellery in the house during the robbery, said police.
The robbers later dumped the car to avoid getting caught. The stolen vehicle was later recovered near Wazirabad JJ Colony, said police.
“The car was likely stolen to make a quick getaway and later dumped to avoid detection by the police,” Bhisham Singh had earlier said.
