Robbers strike at house of MLA’s nephew

Four robbers struck at the Jangpura house of Maninder Singh,nephew of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s parliamentary secretary T S Marwah,and made off with cash and jewellery worth over Rs 7 lakh on Monday.

Four robbers struck at the Jangpura house of x,nephew of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s parliamentary secretary T S Marwah,and made off with cash and jewellery worth over Rs 7 lakh on Monday.

Police said Singh’s wife,two maids and his 10-day-old daughter were at home when four men rang the doorbell around 11.30 am. “Before opening the door,one of the maids asked the robbers to introduce themselves. The men said they were from the local post office. When she opened the door,the four men — all masked — forced themselves in,” a police officer said. While one of the men grabbed the maid,the others held the rest of the family hostage. Three of the four persons were armed with pistols.

A case has been registered and an investigation is on to trace the robbers. Singh’s uncle,T S Marwah,is an MLA from Jangpura constituency.
