The women were found dead at their flat in Krishna Nagar on Wednesday. Archive Days after a retired All India Radio employee and her youngest daughter were found dead inside their locked flat in Krishna Nagar, with their bodies decomposing and bearing signs of injuries, police have arrested two men in connection with the case. The motive, say police, appears to be robbery.
Police said Rajrani Lal (64) and her daughter Ginni Karar (30), who is autistic, were found dead on Wednesday.
Police identified the accused as Ankit Singh Rajput and Kishan. While Rajput was Ginni’s music teacher, Kishan was her English teacher.
According to police, the accused allegedly planned to rob Rajrani’s house, thinking there were a lot of valuables inside. “After killing the duo, the accused tried to transfer Rs 50 lakh from Rajrani’s account through her mobile phone but they failed to do so,” said DCP (Shahdara) Rohit Meena.
Detailing the sequence of events, police said Kishan came to the deceased woman’s house on May 25 at 10 pm to hold classes for Ginni. He was accompanied by Rajput and the duo passed through the digital locking system. “The accused first slit Ginni’s throat and then killed Rajrani, before fleeing with whatever they could steal from the house,” said the DCP.
Rajrani is survived by her elder daughters. Her husband, who died around a decade ago, worked in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The family shifted to Krishna Nagar around five-six years ago. Ginni had completed her master’s in fine arts from a private college in Delhi, said police.
A police officer had earlier said that Rajrani owned three properties in Delhi — one in Rohini, two in Shahdara — and she was planning to buy a house in South Delhi as well. The DCP said Ginni had several properties to her name, transferred to her by her mother.
