The Delhi Police Tuesday registered an FIR against the owner of a restaurant in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden where a fire erupted on Monday afternoon due to a short circuit.

Vichitra Veer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi), said, “The First Information Report has been lodged under relevant sections based on prima facie evidence.”

A person was injured while being rescued after the fire, and the building that houses several commercial establishments, including Jungle Jamboree restaurant and MAAC, a media and entertainment institute, was partially affected.

According to a Delhi Fire Service officer, the restaurant in the building allegedly did not have the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Fire Safety Certificate (FSC). The Municipal Corporation Department said it had ordered the closure of the establishment following the withdrawal of the Fire Safety Certificate in October. In November, it revoked the establishment’s Health Trade License.

In a video circulating online Monday, several people were seen jumping from the commercial building housing the Jungle Jamboree restaurant and MAAC even as people on the roof of an adjacent building can be seen trying to assist those leaping.
