The post-mortem report into the death of a constable, whose body was found in the water tank at Police Training College,Malviya Nagar, has revealed that the death was caused by asphyxia due to drowning.
The report has also revealed that Constable Munish Hooda was in a feeble condition after suffering from a bout of acute typhoid, police said. According to police, the body did not have any sign of external injuries.
On May 3,the body of Munish Hooda was found in the water tank at the Police Training School in Malviya Nagar. Though police had said his death was an accident,Manishs family had alleged foul play.
But police once again denied any foul play in the incident. But they are now taking a second opinion from the Ahmedabad Forensic Laboratory. Police sources said the viscera of the deceased, which had been preserved, has been sent to Ahmedabad,to ensure that there was no foul play in his death.
It appears that Munish fell down into the tank while taking a wash. He was on medication and this fact has been corroborated by his family members too. He had suffered from acute typhoid. It would have taken at least five to six persons to drown him forcibly in the tank. If several persons were involved in the act,an eyewitness is bound to be there. The spot was clearly visible from the sentrys room. We will file a report with the circumstantial evidence and then the case will be closed, said a police officer.
