Based on the complaint, a case of robbery under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at the Dwarka Sector 23 police station.A 30-year-old man, who allegedly abducted a driver in Dwarka last month, was arrested on Friday after a 1,200-km-long chase by the police. Police identified the accused as Chandan.
According to investigators, the incident took place on September 27, when the complainant, a driver of a commercial vehicle, approached the police stating that he had met two men – later identified as Chandan and his associate Aamir – at the New Delhi railway station, who requested that they be dropped to Dwarka.
According to the complaint, once they reached Dwarka, the two men asked the driver to take a detour towards Nala Road. There, the car was stopped and the two men allegedly assaulted the driver and fled with the car.

With no immediate leads, the police examined CCTV camera footage and undertook technical surveillance to trace the two men. The team eventually traced the car’s movement on the Yamuna Expressway near Agra, roughly 500 km away, said police.
“The team acted swiftly and started chasing the car. The accused was already about 500 km ahead of the police team by then. The team relentlessly chased the accused for around 1,200 km before apprehending Chandan from Gouraol police station area in Bihar’s Vaishali district.,” said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh. The car was also seized, he added.
During questioning, police said, Chandan claimed he and Aamir had stolen the vehicle to earn quick money by using it to transport illegal liquor during the Bihar elections.
