A day after two men were arrested from Delhi and Jharkhand for their alleged links with a terror module and their involvement in planning anti-India activities, the police claimed to have nabbed three more people on Thursday.

According to a police officer, the trio were arrested from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana and are being questioned. “Teams are still conducting raids in various parts of the country and some more people have been picked up for questioning,” the officer said.

On Wednesday, the Special Cell had arrested Aaftab from Delhi and Ashar Danish from Ranchi. A third person, Abu Bakr alias Sufiyan, was arrested from Delhi on Wednesday night while two others, whose names were withheld by the police, were nabbed from Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.

The officer said that police will soon reveal details about what the accused were planning and their links with the terror modules, after their questioning.

“So far, their questioning has revealed that the accused were planning to execute blasts in several parts of the country, including Delhi and NCR. The accused had assembled some materials and explosives for making IEDs (Improvised Explosive Device),” the officer said.

The police have claimed to have recovered copper sheets, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sodium bicarbonate carbonate, sulphur powder, ball bearings, beaker set, safety gloves, respiratory mask, plastic box containing strip wires, and a circuit, motherboard and diodes from these accused.

“It is suspected that they were associated with the AQIS module (Al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub continent) and were inspired by ISIS and ISI. But their exact links are yet to be ascertained,” another officer said.
