PM scheme has put end to exploitation of street vendors: Minister Hardeep Puri

The exploitation of street vendors and workers has stopped under PM Narendra Modi’s government, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said on Friday as he disbursed loans to 10,000 beneficiaries of PM SVANidhi scheme in a programme jointly organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), State Level Bankers Committee, Delhi, and Punjab National Bank.

“Under PM Modi, the benefits of the government welfare schemes have directly reached the eligible beneficiaries,” he said.“In time to come, India will be the third largest economy in the world and street vendors will play an important role in this achievement,” he added.

The programme was attended by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena; Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi; Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad; Chandni Chowk MP Dr Harsh Vardhan; Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar; and MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti; among others.
