Drama took centrestage on Friday evening as Delhi-based fashion designer Manish Arora and international filmmaker Shekhar Kapur joined hands to present The Circus of Life,a spectacular fashion broadway,to the capital’s Christian Louboutin-shod set at the Garden of Five Senses in Lado Sarai. After the models glided down in Arora’s chromatic creations, the ballet dancers and fire jugglers took over. “I don’t know anything about fashion, but I believe in design and it is something that constantly leads people to change. So Manish and I decided to come together and present Fashion Broadway,” said Kapur, looking dapper in a silk kurta pajama, teamed with a jacket by Arora. Organised by Chivas Studio, the three-day extravaganza also featured Mumbai-based artist Bose Krishnamachari and Delhi photographer Bharat Sikka. Bose displayed three large Trivision hoarding-paintings of 6×10 feet. “These feature portraits of people who have been seen as heroes by society,” said Bose. He also had a custom-made bar, with video works playing and some functional, but designer furniture. “The 20 photographs from my fashion as art series feature models in unconventional settings,” says Sikka. The photographs are on archival paper, framed and mounted to measure 40 to 50 inches.
