In 2012, when the first edition of Lifestyle Pakistan Exhibition took place in Delhi, little did one know that it would be such a success. Flowy silhouettes in lawn fabric, antique furniture, Pakistani rice and tea gave the city a piece of Pakistan.
Two years later, the exhibition, titled “Alishan Pakistan”, is back with a fashion show, an art exhibition, exotic Pakistani cuisine and more lawn for those in love with fashion from across the border. The exhibition will be held at Pragati Maidan from September 10-14. “The second edition is bigger and better. Last time we had 250 stalls, while this year we will have more than 300 stalls,” says Sher Afghan, official spokesperson of Alishan Pakistan.
Apart from the exhibition at Pragati Maidan, a fashion show will be held at the Taj Hotel in the city on September 10 and seven Pakistani designers will be a part of it. “We are looking at the business of fashion and our aim is to promote younger designers,” says Sanam Chaudhri, Chairperson of Fashion Pakistan. Deepak Perwani, Wardha Saleem and Mehreen Noorani, among others, will be a part of the runway shows, which is by invitation only. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us since India is an exciting and growing market for us. I am showcasing my couture collection called ‘Ottoman Odyssey’, which comprises shararas and ghararas,” says Perwani.
