Delhi L-G V K Saxena on Thursday accorded a prosecution sanction against six persons under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly attacking the Parliament on December 13 last year.

When a case is lodged under the UAPA, the Centre or the state government has to provide sanction to prosecute an accused after reviewing the evidence provided by the investigating agency — the Delhi Police’s Special Cell in this case.

Earlier, two others — Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat — were also arrested and produced in the court. Kumawat had allegedly contacted Jha, the key accused, and others via a Facebook group named ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Page’. Jha is also accused of destroying evidence of the conspiracy in the case.
