Pak spy held from Samalkha

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested a suspected Pakistani spy,who has been staying in the Capital for over a year to allegedly recce Army installations.

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested a suspected Pakistani spy,who has been staying in the Capital for over a year to allegedly recce Army installations. Officials said they have recovered confidential Army documents and related maps from Sajjad Haider (43) who hails from Lahore.

Sajjad,who was staying under the identity of Mohammad Parvez,was apprehended by a team of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell from Samalkha village near Kapashera on September 14 after a tip-off from central intelligence agencies,a senior police officer said. He has also revealed names of a few others who facilitated his activities in India. They are now being questioned,the police said.

“Confidential documents related to the Indian Army,a fake driving licence,PAN card,Western Union money transfer receipts,rent agreements,SIM cards and phones have been recovered from his rented accommodation in Samalakha,” the officer said.

Trained at Military Trade Craft in Lahore by the ISI for five months,Sajjad was tasked with recceing Army installations in Punjab and Delhi to collect information regarding movements of Armed Forces,the official said. “He entered India last September through Bangladesh and was directed by his handlers to first obtain credible Indian IDs,” the officer said.

Sajjad has revealed that he received confidential documents from a source in Delhi which he sent to one of his handlers in Pakistan through courier via Dubai.

“He said he initially picked up odd jobs in Okhla Industrial Area and started developing contacts with logistics providers in the area,” the officer said.

Soon,he procured mobile SIM cards of different companies on the basis of his fake driving licence and IDs of other persons. After staying for some time in Okhla,he rented a room in Govindpuri before finally shifting to Samalkha.

“In between,he starting living with a woman to show himself as a family man. During this period,the accused worked as driver of cabs attached with various call centres,” the officer said.

The police are trying to find out if he has already sent any information to Pakistan.
