Out for drop, delivery exec run over by car in Noida
The deceased’s cousin Sachin Yadav said he was the sole breadwinner in the family. “His mother is ill most of the time. A lot of the money gets spent on her medicine. His father does agricultural work in the village. He has a 14-year-old brother and six sisters, three of whom are unmarried,” said Yadav.

A 22-year-old delivery boy died after a car ran over him in Noida on Wednesday.
Deepak Yadav, who lived in Noida’s Salarpur, was working as a delivery boy at a BigBasket store in Noida sector 104.
Police said that a Honda Amaze car allegedly hit his e-scooter around 3 pm Wednesday. A video of the incident shows that the rear part of the scooter got damaged along with the car’s bumper and the front part. Police have recovered the car and arrested the driver, Priyam Jindal (24), a resident of Noida.
“… After taking items from the company store in Hajipur market, Deepak, on the way for a delivery, was hit by the car in front of gate no 1 of Lotus Boulevard in sector 100. Passersby took him to a district hospital in sector 32, where he was declared dead,” states the FIR registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) in sector-39 police station.
“Who will support them now? The authorities must provide some compensation to the family,” he added.
The BigBasket store manager Ravindra Pal said Deepak started working for him since December 2022. “This is a very unfortunate incident. He was working as a delivery boy with the firm through a third party company. He was a punctual and dedicated employee. He had very good ratings and knew how to talk to customers politely and resolve their issues. He had told me that along with the job, he was studying and preparing for some exams,” said Pal.
He also said that Deepak was getting around Rs 35 for a successful delivery. “A delivery boy does not have a fixed salary, they earn according to the number of deliveries they make a day,” added Pal.
