A one-year-old boy died and three others — his mother, sister, and house help — sustained injuries after a speeding crane rammed into them while they were crossing the road near Noida’s Sector 100 Tuesday afternoon, said police.
The boy was crushed to death in front of his mother. A purported video that has gone viral on social media shows the mother weeping, holding her son in her arms.
The child has been identified as Pratisthit Pandey. said police. The mother, Anita Pandey, and her daughter escaped with minor injuries while the house help, Pinky, suffered grievous injuries and is critical.
The family lives in Lotus Espacia Society in Sector 100. The woman’s husband Pramod Pandey is a Noida-based businessman. Pinky, a resident of Hazipur in Noida, hails from Madhubani in Bihar.

“Residents contacted senior police officers and a team rushed to the spot and took the four to a nearby hospital,” he added.
Noida Assistant Commissioner of Police, Praveen Singh, said, “During the investigation, we found that Anita had gone to the market along with the children and Pinky. The incident took place while they were returning home. Pinky is in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Noida,” said the ACP.
The crane driver was nabbed by locals and handed over to police. “Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family members, a case was registered against the driver and further investigation is underway,” added ACP Singh.
