On the run for four years after killing uncle, former Taekwondo player, Neeraj Bawana gang member held

“Hooda abducted his uncle, brought him to Delhi’s Kanjhawala area and killed him. He then fled from the spot. Both Delhi and Haryana Police were looking for him,” said a senior officer.

On Monday, police said they received a tip that Hooda is in the Rohini area to commit a crime.

“We were told he was here at the direction of his gang leaders and was carrying an illegal weapon with him. A raiding team was formed and a trap was laid at Sector 25, Rohini, Delhi and the accused was apprehended from there. A pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from him,” HGS Dhaliwal, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.

Hooda confessed he had killed his uncle over the loan and financial dispute. Police said his father works with the BSF.

“He was earlier arrested in a trespass and firing case in Aman Vihar in 2018. The next year, he abducted his uncle along with his associates and killed him in Delhi,” said Dhaliwal.

His antecedents are being checked and police said they are looking for other associates and members of the Bawana gang.
