Delhi Police have arrested two persons for allegedly abducting the driver of an Ola cab, robbing him of his belongings and then driving off with his vehicle.
The accused, identified as Goverdhan alias Yogesh and Vijay Singh, allegedly wanted the car to smuggle alcohol from Haryana to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place on the intervening night of June 29 and 30, when the taxi driver, Mohan Shyam, was allegedly abducted by three persons at gun-point while he was waiting for a passenger in Pitampura.
The accused forced Shyam inside the space between the front and backseats of the car, and started beating him up, said police. One of the accused drove the car, while the other two took away his gold ring, wrist watch, mobile phone and wallet, said police. They allegedly dumped Shyam near Jajru Mor in Faridabad and fled with the vehicle, said police.
“While investigating the case, police got a tip-off that the accused were in Palwal, and two of them were headed back to Delhi. They were arrested in Sarita Vihar,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Vijay Singh.
