Notice served to school to hold PTA elections

The Directorate of Education on Saturday served an advisory notice to Brain International School Vikaspuri,ordering the school to conduct elections for its Parent Teacher Association.

“PTA representatives have to be elected and made members of the management committee under Rule 59 of the Delhi School Education. We’ve served a notice for PTA elections after protests by parents,” said Chandrabhushan Kumar,Director Education.

Ten parents staged a hunger strike outside the school over its refusal to roll back the fee hike on Saturday.

“We want the school to involve parents in deciding the fees,” said Ashok Aggarwal,president of the All India Parents’ Association.

Parents of students at Bal Bharati Public School,Pusa Road and Ganga Ram Hospital Marg held a candlelight vigil outside the school. “The PTA representatives are management nominees. The school has refused to show us balance sheets and said they will hike the fee further,” said a member of the Bal Bharati Parents’ Association. Parents had submitted a memorandum to Principal L V Sehgal.
