Officials said that during an inspection under the supervision of Indu Prakash Singh, Officer on Special Duty, and Gaurav Bansal, Project Engineer, it was found that the mall was not segregating waste, and that the garbage being collected from the premises was being handed over to unauthorised scrap dealers who were dumping it on the roadside

“This is a clear violation of the Solid Waste Management Rules. Such practices not only damage the city’s cleanliness drive but also contribute to environmental hazards,” the Noida Authority said in the statement
According to the Authority, the mall operated by Castle Buildcon was not complying with the rules and responsibilities that have been mandated for bulk waste generators.

The Authority said, “Bulk waste generators are required to ensure segregation, proper storage and processing of waste at source. Despite repeated workshops and reminders, Gulshan Mall has failed to comply. A penalty of Rs 10,00,000 has been imposed, and strict directions have been issued for immediate compliance.”

The Authority has been conducting regular checks across housing societies, malls, and institutions as part of its preparations for the annual Swachh Survekshan survey. “Our aim is to make Noida one of the cleanest cities in the country,” Indu Prakash Singh said.
