Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh Sunday ordered the transfer of the police officer in charge of Sector-49 station, Sandeep Chaudhary, over his inaction in the snake venom case. Five people who allegedly ran an organised group that sells snake venom at rave parties were arrested from Chevron banquet hall in Noida’s Sector 51 following a tip-off from People for Animals (PFA), on Friday.

“Police Station Noida Sector-49 in-charge has been transferred to the Reserve Police Line due to his inability to effectively control crime within the police station area,” read the statement from the Gautam Buddh Nagar police Commissionerate.

The police have also booked TV show Bigg Boss OTT winner and YouTuber Elvish Yadav in the case. It is believed that the action has been taken due to the inclusion of Elvish’s name in the First Information Report (FIR) without involving the senior police officials.

Police said 20 ml of snake venom, five cobras, a python, 2 two-headed snakes, and a rat snake were recovered from the accused.

While Elvish Yadav has claimed innocence in his statement, Noida police are yet to decide on his arrest as officials claimed that they have not found enough evidence to link the case with Yadav.

“The name in the FIR does not make a person guilty. He is neither wanted nor got a clean chit in the case. We have not formed any team so far to arrest him. We are still verifying the allegation on the basis of records or evidence that we have. If we get any strong evidence then he will definitely be arrested,” said a senior police officer.
