Police found the note in the room where Archana hung herself from the ceiling fan using her dupatta.

According to police, Archana had called her husband, Asam, an hour after he left for work to ask him the reason, but he could not take his call. “We questioned Asam. He told us that she called him twice while he was at work but he could not speak to her properly as he was busy. He said he attended to her second call and told her that he would call her later,” a police officer said.

According to police, Asam called Archana later in the day, but she did not respond. He, however, did not try calling her again, thinking she must be angry. It was only when Asam reached home that he found Archana’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. “Asam had to break into the house as no one was responding to the door bell and Archana was not taking his calls. Asam called neighbours for help and also made a PCR call,” the officer said.

Since the couple had been married for only a few months, an SDM inquiry into the matter has been initiated. “Though we do not suspect any foulplay in the matter, we have initiated an inquiry. Asam told us that Archana used to get very worked up at times. We have recorded Asam’s statement and also contacted Archana’s parents,” the officer said.
