The day had its normal share of upsets with the top one being Sethuraman’s victory over Grandmaster Evgeny Gleizerov of Russia in just 31 moves. Meanwhile,another Grandmaster in the fray,Magesh Chandran,also tasted his first defeat in the tournament at the hands of Roktim Bandyopadhyay.

International Master Sriram Jha held Grandmaster Surya Sekhar Ganguly to a draw,while Dibeyandu Barua also settled to a draw with Djuraev Sokhib.
