‘Need A role model to achieve goals’

I hold Venkatraman Ramakrishnan in high regard. His parents were also scientists from Tamil Nadu who worked in Gujarat. He had developed an interest in Biology from during his school days. He pursued his interest by studying science at the highest level and obtained a PhD in Biochemistry. He worked on how cells made proteins using ribosomes and also received a Nobel Prize in 2009. Like his predecessors C V Raman and S Chandrashekhar,he has become a pillar of the community and sets an example for others to follow. I would like to follow his footsteps by becoming a scientist who asks unanswered questions.

It is very true that a man cannot attain name and fame without setting an idol for himself. When we set a goal,we set a role model for ourselves whom we can look upto and move forward to achieve our aim. When I was a child,I set up my mind and I always looked upon my father. Yes,my father is my ideal. He is an intelligent scientist. He is highly educated and very responsible. He is very affectionate, caring, polite and calm. He also looks after his parents and love them a lot. He works hard so that we can get good education and bright future. He is the best father in the world. I want to be a sensible, intelligent and calm person like him. I want to become a scientist like him. Therefore,I thank god for giving me a father who can be my role model.

The magnificent Hogwarts castle, the bustling Ministry of Magic and the enchanting Diagon Alley — the magical world woven by Joanne Kathleen Rowling is so intricate in detail that one can’t help but believe it to be true. The woman who was stranded by the man she loved, with a new-born baby to take care of,in a strange city,to fight it out for herself, has shown the world that with belief in oneself,in one’s art and in one’s abilities, the sky is the limit. Rowling rose to multi-millionaire status in just five years from a condition of being as poor as it is possible to be in the UK without being homeless. I would simply like to thank J K Rowling for writing the most phenomenal series of books, which made my early adolescence the most memorable time of my life.

Our inspiration is the person, from whom we wish to learn,or to excel like him/her in a particular field,or simply wish to be a copy of him /her. My greatest inspiration is my father and he is the one whom I admire the most. I wish I was an exact copy of him. He is an officer in the Border Security Force, presently at the post of Commandant. Despite his middle class background, his principle in life are hard work, discipline and team work and last but not the least a bit of luck, which can make a difference in ones life. He is down to earth, humane, impartial and a man of commitment. He is amazing as a person as he is always among the first of the people to extend a helping hand to the needy. He goes out of his way to help them in the hour of need. He is loyal and dedicated. He has cherished the good and the worst times of his career equally. I wish to be like him in each and every aspect.

Almost everyone has their idols and if you ask them they would name either an actor,a singer,a dancer, etc. It is because they find some special quality in them which they adore or admire. If you ask me,I would name someone who is extremely hardworking and down to earth. They are my parents. They really do a lot for me. Everything that I need is given to me before I even ask for it. They always take out time for me from their busy life. They are extremely caring, supportive and a constant guide for me. And I think parents are like that. Apart from them,I do feel that there is something to learn from every person in this world. Everyone is not born with a silver spoon. People have their own problems, hardships in life but, they don’t lose hope and that’s what inspires me the most.

Super cop Kiran Bedi will be my choice for the ideal role model. Despite coming from a modest and simple family background, she excelled in studies and chose a profession full of risks. Through out her professional life, she worked fearlessly and and in a very constructive manner despite the stiff competition and opposition. She is also very dedicated to her work,a fact that has brought her and our country laurels. She excelled in her life at a time when women in the Indian society severely faced discrimination. Coming out of the narrow minded shell and rising high with flying colours deserves an applause. Such a dedicated and honest person really inspires.

My mother is an affectionate lady. She loves me very much. I love her, too. She takes care of all of us. She gets up early in the morning, makes our breakfast, lunch and dinner. She looks after the cleanliness of the house and furniture, and also our clothes and health. When I fall sick,my mother passes sleepless nights by my bed. My mother has taught me the importance of discipline, good manners, honesty and respect towards elders. She also taught me to defend and help the poor and the weak. My mother tells me many oriental and mythological tales. When I grew up a little, she taught me how to read and write. In every matter of my life, she is my idol.

“Idols are our heroes ,our guides, who inspire us to work hard and prove that every drop of sweat is worth it. I have been play golf over the last four years and have great admiration for Tiger Woods. Besides Woods’ great talent in golf, there are several other qualities that I would like to adapt in my life. People all around the world have noticed his dedication for the game and I surely look up to certain habits such as the time he spends to perfect his game, fitness routine, his tactical course mastery and unparalleled mental strength. I admire that Woods is humble and kind and has built a foundation to provide education to the less fortunate.Woods is my idol as he has set many records that may never be broken. I would like to work hard like him and give back what I can to the society in the future.

I have always looked upon my maternal grandfather G D Chandrapal as my ideal. Since my childhood,I have seen his integrity and honesty. He always corrects me when I am wrong. He exhorts me to be honest. He always tells me stories that have good morals and this will definitely play a vital role in my future and in my character building. Whenever I fall ill,he becomes very anxious and sad. His love and concern overwhelms me.Though he is in Chennai on account of his employment,he talks to me daily and enquires from me whether I have eaten properly or behaved properly. As soon as I receive a call from him,I open my heart and tell him the truth. I do not hide anything from him. I want to be like my grandfather and want to contribute towards the growth and upliftment of our nation.

I look up to a lot of people in life. When we talk of role models,we think of Einstein,Steve Jobs,Mark Zuckerberg,or our favourite popstars. But they differ greatly from the one who inspires me the most— Malala Yousafzai. This remarkable young woman is different from the others because while they come across only in books or movies, she is one contemporary figure who made the world sit up and take notice of her. Since the age of 11,she has been writing blogs and campaigning for women’s education. With the threat of Taliban looming over her,she kept on writing and fighting, and after an assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen, she emerged as an international icon representing resolve, hope and spirit. Malala is now the youngest ever nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala was and continues to be an inspiration, not just for me,but for millions of people all over the world.

Anything in world which motivates and encourages us towards the path of excellence is indeed the best ideal. The regular, consistent and continuous sunset and sunrise inspires us to always be punctual and regular for our work. The condensation of water vapours into immense clouds inspire us to become united with, such that we can accomplish the extreme difficult obstacles of life with great ease. The way birds of prey focus on their target and grab them inspires us to concentrate hard at our target and achieve our destiny. The trees hold the earth firmly with their roots and tells us to be dedicated  toward our goal with all the efforts . When nature nurtures a newly germinated leaf bud,it inspires us to show affection and support those who want to achieve something in life. Briefly, the nature and the world is full of real ideals of life which cannot be depicted even in whole life, but if followed by humans will result in the creation of new history and great deeds.

My idol is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Indian Cricket Team. He has a positive attitude even in situations where people may often react helplessly. He has all those qualities which can make a man achieve success in his life,be it hand work, leadership qualities, optimistic attitude, smart thinking and most importantly a great presence of mind. He has proved the quote,‘Where there is a Will,There is a Way’. He started his career as a mare ticket checker and wen on to become the Indian cricket team captain. He has always inspired me to work hard and achieve my goals. He inspires me to put in all hard work one can and to move on with a positive attitude. He says,“Learn from your mistakes, rather than regretting your past, planning your future, giving your hundred per cent to the present.”
