In Tuesday’s preliminary round matches of the Durand Cup,Punjab Police were eliminated 0-1 by well organised Indian Navy. The match winner was scored by midfielder Mukesh Kumar with an angular top of the box shot. Indian Navy next play I League outfit,Sporting Clube De Goa. Earlier in another first round match Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ousted debutants Army Junior 2-1 in a closely fought encounter. Army Junior opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Jems L Sanga. Their lead only lasted four minutes until W Athoiba Meitei equalised in the 30th. CRPF then scored the decisive goal through Yenkhom Priyo K in the 53rd minute.
