In a plush Trutone Sound Studio in Noida’s Sector 40,Delhi-based Hindi rock band Dhun is listening to playbacks after a session of intense jamming. For this seven-member band, space to “do” music is no longer a worry, now that the recording studio has opened its doors for jamming. The new Fender Music Academy in Shahpur Jat,too, makes the most of the fact that Delhi offers few places for bands to get together regularly.

“Most bands that come to practise here also end up recording their albums. It is a good way of finding talent and also marketing the studio,” says musician Nikkhil Beri, who operates Trutone. Bands such as Jannat and Karma often turn up to jam in his state-of-the art recording studio. “The charges for jamming are the same as in any other jam pad,” he adds.

Fender Music Academy has a state-of-the-art jamming pad attached to the recording studio called the Record Room. Delhi-based rock band Faridkot that jammed in the studio recently and followed this up by recording their tracks here. “It is a nice break from all the basement studios. Now,we have a beautiful balcony and great ambience, perfect for making great music,” says Rajarshi Sanyal, guitarist of Faridkot. Two college bands,U8Noise from St Stephen’s College, and Zephyr Station from Gargi College have also jammed and recorded the tracks at Fender Music Academy.
