Murder accused injured in alleged exchange of fire with police in Dadri

According to police, Sachin had confessed to killing Rajesh on October 19. While being escorted for the recovery of the weapon, he allegedly fired at police ‘with intent to kill’ and was injured after the police retaliated.

A 26-year-old man accused of murder was injured in an alleged exchange of fire with police on Tuesday (October 21) morning in Dadri.

The incident took place when Dadri Police were taking the man, Sachin, to recover the weapon he had allegedly used to kill a dairy-owner named Rajesh (27), in Nangla Nainsukh village in Dadri in Gautam Budh Nagar district on Sunday (October 19), police said.

“Around 8.30 pm on Sunday, Greater Noida-based Dadri Police received information that a man had been shot dead in Nangla Nainsukh village. Police reached the spot and began investigating,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Greater Noida, Sudheer Kumar, said.

According to police, the two men got into an argument while they were drinking alcohol on Sunday evening. “Sachin shot Rajesh with his gun,” ADCP Kumar said. According to police, Sachin has a long criminal history, and has been named in several cases registered at Dadri police station.

“During questioning, Sachin confessed to killing Rajesh, [who was] the brother of Satan alias Satendra, a resident of Nangla Nainsukh village. Sachin told police that he and Rajesh had been drinking alcohol together at Satendra’s plot when an argument broke out. In a fit of rage, Sachin shot Rajesh with his pistol, resulting in his death on the spot. He then fled the scene,” police said in an official statement.

According to police, as Sachin was being taken on Tuesday for the recovery of the weapon allegedly used in the crime, he attacked the policemen who were escorting him.

“When we reached near ITI College, Nangla Nainsukh, the accused allegedly snatched a pistol from the police personnel and attempted to flee,” an official said.

“He then opened fire on the police team with the intent to kill. In self-defence, the police retaliated, and the accused sustained a bullet injury during the exchange of fire. Police also recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol and one empty cartridge from the accused’s possession,” ADCP Kumar said.

“The injured accused was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment,” police said.

Ghaziabad reported 48 cases of fire incidents as compared to 60 that were reported last year. Talking to The Indian Express, Chief Fire Officer, Ghaziabad, Rahul Pal said that two people were rescued from a factory that caught fire in Sahibabad and five bikes were burnt in Sanjay Nagar, however there was no reported case of any injury.
