MBA student held for theft in Metro

Two women were arrested for their involvement in separate incidents of theft in the Delhi Metro.

Two women were arrested for their involvement in separate incidents of theft in the Delhi Metro. One of the accused is currently pursuing an MBA degree from Amity University in Noida. The accused,Monika Khatwal,is a Delhi University graduate.

Police arrested her after examining CCTV footage from cameras mounted in Metro trains and recovered Rs 65,000 . She confessed that she used steal in the mornings,before going to college,police said.

During questioning,Monika told police that she committed thefts to finance a lavish lifestyle and that she had the habit of purchasing expensive gadgets. Monika was also pursuing a diploma in Computer Studies from DSIIDC,Janakpuri. “Monika confessed that she committed thefts during peak hours,between Central Secretariat and Rajiv Chowk Metro stations. Around two months ago,she managed to steal Rs 3,000 from a Metro passenger,after which she took to pickpocketing,” Additional SCP (Railways) Sanjay Bhatia said.

Police arrested another woman,Manju,a resident of Peeragarhi,on the charge of drugging women in the Metro and stealing their belongings. Police are looking for her associates.
