After the paan kiosk of the accused was set on fire by a mob, a large number of police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain peace.
The family of the two brothers apprehended in connection with the alleged murder of Rajat Menon claimed Thursday it was a minor scuffle over some dispute. Their elder brother said, “They might have had some scuffle over some issue as they are kids. But they can’t kill anybody, they themselves rushed the boy to hospital.”

“We are five brothers and one is just eight years old. We all sit at the paan kiosk in turns. The truth will come out in police investigation. We will cooperate with the police,” he added.
Locals demonstrated in the market where father of the two brothers apprehended in the case owns a paan kiosk.
The family has owned the paan kiosk for three years. The family lives in a village on the Delhi-Noida border.

Some irate residents of Mayur Vihar Phase III, however, accused paan sellers in the area of being involved in drug trade. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal said, “Since the investigation is in a primary stage, it is difficult say the direction it will take.” Pal, however, added he would investigate all the angles in the case.

Fearing the wrath of residents, other paan sellers in the locality did not open their shops Thursday, even as other shops remained open.
A paan seller standing near his kiosk said he was waiting for the situation to calm down before opening his shop. “I don’t want my shop to be broken by people. They are furious with paan sellers.”
