A swirling free kick past the Ashoka FC post in the 27th minute was just Manpreets appetiser. The centre-forwards hunger to score more got fulfilled as he produced a hat-trick to wreck havoc, giving his side Goodwill FC a massive 5-1 win,in the DSA A division football league at the Ambedkar stadium. It was a great moment when I shot the free kick into the goal. I thought it would miss the post, but it curled enough to find the net, said an elated Manpreet. Before Manpreet charged his batteries,Goodwill was breathing comfortably with a couple of goals up front. Goodwill began their goal-count in the 5th minute when left winger Repu Daman toed the ball into the net despite a frantic effort by opposition to clear the ball from the box. Goodwill used the right - left strategy and doubled the lead after three minutes from the right flank. Full back Manoj sent an aerial volley to right winger Amar Singh Rana, who dribbled past two defenders and chipped the ball over the Ashoka custodian to trouble the scorers. With three minutes to go for the break,Ashoka faltered outside the box to let Goodwill take a direct hit at the goal. Manpreet further increased the lead by hitting a scorcher to the right corner of the net. It was a crucial match for us. The win was needed as we drew and lost one each. So the strategy was to play a dominating game, Manpreet added. The entire second half was an one-sided affair. Manpreet continued his dream run and put Goodwill FC to lead by four goals in the 35th minute. Manoj again contributed to the play and crossed to Manpreet, who struck from 40 yards straight into Ashokas weakly guarded fort. He increased Ashokas problems by scoring the fifth in the 36th minute after receiving a cross from Repu Daman stationed at the center-back position. He tackled past a defender and shot to the left of the goal, while creating ample space to execute the shot. After much humiliation,Ashoka managed a consolation goal when Raghav Kuthiyala was fed from the right flank through Akarsh, which he converted. Goodwill now have 4 points, while Ashoka FC remain at the bottom spot after 3 matches. Paschim thump HeroesIn the second match of the day,Vikas Kumars brace powered Paschim Heroes to beat Garhwal Diamonds by 4-0. Heroes went ahead in the dying moments of the first half, when Sandeeps cross found winger Vikas, who dribbled through the Garhwal defense to score. Harinder Singh doubled the scoreline in the 46th minute. Garhwal were pushed back again two minutes later,by a chip from the Paschim striker Akshay. Paschim completed the rout in the 59th minute.
