The Gurgaon police have stumbled upon important clues that may help them nab three persons, who had pulled off a Rs 7.63-lakh heist at the Manappuram gold loan branch near Railway Road a few days ago.
The case has now been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Agency.
Police have circulated sketches of three persons, which were made based on descriptions given by the witnesses. Footage from CCTV cameras have identified them as the same persons who were involved in a similar heist at Faridabad. The suspects had allegedly shot at a bank manager in the earlier incident.
They had used vehicles stolen from Gurgaon to carry out both the crimes, police said, adding that the three must have been involved in many other incidents of the kind in the Faridabad-Gurgaon region. We believe a local gang is involved, an officer said.
The three entered the bank, assaulted the two guards and rounded up the customers and employees at gunpoint. Officers said the suspects then forced the assistant branch manager to open the safe, from where they looted Rs 7.63 lakh.
