Quick intervention by the Gautam Budh Nagar Police helped save the life of a 20-year-old man, who had posted a picture on social media hinting at suicide.
Police said the man, a resident of Chandrawal village, had posted a message on his Instagram account with a picture of a noose and wrote: “Today, everything will end”.
Officials said: “On March 18, DGP Headquarters, Lucknow media cell, informed the Gautam Budh Nagar media cell that a youth, a resident of Dankaur police station area… had put a post around 2 pm on his Instagram account, with a picture of noose, and wrote that ‘today everything will end’…”
They further said, “The district’s media cell took quick action and traced the location of the mobile number, which showed that the person was at Chandrawal village… We immediately contacted the Dankaur SHO and the outpost concerned… Mandi Shyam Nagar in-charge Yogendra Kumar was sent to the spot.”
Officials said police traced the person and took him to the outpost along with family, where he was counselled. “The youth admitted that he had an argument with his wife last night, due to which he was mentally disturbed and was thinking of committing suicide,” said an official.
Police said the man is now under the supervision of his family.
