A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling a 23-year-old woman in sector 31 in Faridabad, police said, adding that he was sent to a one-day police remand. A case has been registered against the accused under the sections of murder at Sector 31 police station.
According to spokesperson Sube Singh, accused Akash (24), a resident of Shiv Colony, Faridabad, allegedly killed the woman over the suspicion that she was talking to another man. As per police, the probe revealed that the accused knew the girl for over eight years.
Akash, who works as an accountant in a company in Delhi, called the woman to a hotel near Faridabad’s NHPC Chowk around 11 am on Wednesday where they allegedly had a scuffle. Later, he allegedly strangled her with a rope, spokesperson Singh said.
Police said that the accused was brought to the police station soon after they were informed of the incident and the woman’s body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem.
The rope used in the incident has been recovered from the possession of the accused. “The accused was produced in the court and sent to one-day police remand for in-depth inquiry in the case. Inquiries are on in the matter,” said Singh.
