Man held for opening fire at New Friends Colony,two at large

Police on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly opening fire at New Friends Colony,Southeast Delhi,two days ago. Identifying the accused as Tushar Goyal,a graduate residing in Rajouri Garden,police said that two of his associates — Sunil and Tinku — are still absconding.

Police said that on November 3,Goyal entered into an argument with his cousin,Tej Bahadur,and a friend. When matters came to a head,the three accused allegedly opened fire to scare them. “When a police team went to Goyal’s house,his wife told them that Goyal was not at home. However,they managed to nab him while he was trying to escape through a grill on the ground floor,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ajay Chowdhary.

Police recovered two pistols and three bullets from his possession.

They also impounded his Tata Safari vehicle,which had four stickers (pertaining to VIP parking,Delhi Vidhan Sabha,Republic Day parade and advocate) on the windshield — besides a beacon on top.
