Mahila Samridhi Yojana: Money not credited in accounts, BJP didn’t keep its promise, says Atishi
Lakhs of women in Delhi, Atishi alleged, waited for the amount to be credited to their accounts, but the BJP government failed to deliver

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi on Saturday termed as “jumla (false promise)” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee that Rs 2,500 would be credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries under the BJP government’s Mahila Samridhi Yojana on Saturday, the International Women’s Day.
Lakhs of women in Delhi, Atishi alleged, waited for the amount to be credited to their accounts, but the BJP government failed to deliver. The BJP instead handed the women a four-member committee, she said.
“Before the Delhi elections, PM Narendra Modi made a grand promise to the women of Delhi. He assured them that on March 8, International Women’s Day, Rs 2,500 would be deposited in every woman’s account. He even advised them to link their bank accounts with their phones, saying they would receive a message confirming the deposit. He called it ‘Modi ki Guarantee’.”
“Today, on March 8, Delhi’s women waited eagerly, believing in that promise. They kept wondering ‘when would Rs 2,500 be credited’… When would the promised message arrive, proving that ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ was fulfilled? But instead, the BJP government exposed the truth – it was never a guarantee, just another jumla,” she added.
Atishi sought to assert that not only did the women not receive Rs 2,500, they “didn’t even get a scheme”. “There was no registration portal, no place to enter their names, no way to submit their bank or Aadhaar card details. The promise wasn’t just broken, it was never meant to be kept,” she alleged.
“What did they get instead? A four-member committee. Is this what PM Modi had pledged… The gap between promise and reality couldn’t be starker,” she said.
“…Did PM Modi ever promise that on International Women’s Day, he would merely set up a committee? No. He promised that on March 8, every woman in Delhi would receive Rs 2,500 in her account. And today, it has been proven that PM Modi brazenly lied,” Atishi added.
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav alleged that the BJP government has deceived women by limiting the Rs 2,500 per month allowance to “less than 10% of women voters”. “Women in Delhi were expecting that being a woman herself, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta would fully implement BJP’s election promise… on International Women’s Day… as assured by PM Modi… but that did not happen,” he said.
“Nor did the CM spell out when would the money be actually transferred into the accounts of the women… According to the current calculation, only 15-20 lakh women would benefit from the scheme, which is a betrayal of women, who had voted for the BJP… after capturing power, the BJP government seems to have taken the women of Delhi for a ride, as had been done by the AAP,” he added.
