With the Capital receiving no rain on Tuesday,temperatures in Delhi rose once again. It rose by more than two degrees,from 33.9 degrees Celsius on Monday to 36.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Tuesday,none of the stations of India Meteorological Department in the NCR recorded measurable quantities of rainfall. With the IMD predicting possibility of rain only in parts of the city on Wednesday,prospects of pleasant climate seemed bleak.
Though temperatures saw a rise from the previous day due to rain keeping away,they remained close to normal. While the maximum was one degree above normal,the minimum of 26.6 degrees Celsius recorded on Tuesday morning was normal and a drop from Monday mornings minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.
Tuesday,however, saw humidity touch 91 per cent,adding to the discomfort of residents. The minimum humidity was 58 per cent.
Met officials said rain and thundershowers were expected in a few places over the northern region,including Delhi,Haryana and Punjab before Friday.
Many places in the city received rainfall on Monday evening. The Safdurjung station of the Met readings for which are taken as the overall reading for the city recorded 5.3 mm of rainfall during the period while the the Noida station recorded 7 mm of rainfall. Ayanagar,Faridabad,Lodhi Road stations of the Met also recorded rainfall during this period. Some parts of the city received light rainfall late on Tuesday too.
For Wednesday,the Met department has predicted temperatures between 35 and 27 degrees Celsius.
