Interested in animals, the artist decided to capture the sport on her canvases in her studio in Delhi. Each of the four paintings, comprising the series “Running with the Bulls”,depicts a sequence — if one has a man taking control of a raging bull,in another he has been defeated. Now,the acrylics are part of the show titled “Patterns and Expressions”,at All India Fine Arts and Craft Society. “The series depicts how both humans and animals have emotions,” says the artist, who is participating in the exhibition with Rajika Vani Banarjee and Smita Srivastava. Banarjee showcases the various moods in gouache paintings,Srivastava has painted her collection in acrylic. A yoga teacher who shuttles between the US and India,Banarjee has depicted the surya namaskar in one of her works.

Delhi-based Srivastava,on the other hand, has opted for brighter hues. If in one of the series her protagonist is a naive female battling difficult situations,in another she focuses on marine life. “I have depicted water, the great soul of life expressing femininity,” says Srivastava.

The exhibition is on at All India Fine Arts and Craft Society till February 24.
