Kiran Bedi, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, filed her nomination papers from the Krishna Nagar constituency in east Delhi. She, earlier in the day, held a road show through the streets of Delhi.
Joined by hundreds of supporters, television footage showed Bedi waving to people and stopping at select points to talk to residents during the road show. She was flanked by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and former BJP Delhi president Vijay Goel.
The public event comes a day after her first event in the constituency where seemingly restive crowds disapproved of the party’s decision to give her the ticket instead of five-time MLA Harsh Vardhan who had nurtured the constituency over the years. Vardhan was elected to the Lok Sabha last year after winning from the Chandni Chowk constituency.
Earlier today, Bedi tweeted saying that she was ready to serve the city which ‘stole my heart as a 14-year-old junior tennis player’.
On my way to file my Nomination in Krishna Nagar Constituency. To Serve the City which stole my heart as a 14 yrs old junior tennis player!

She also wrote on the popular micro-blogging site that once elected to power, she would ensure a status report of each government department to be placed in public domain. She added that she would prepare a ‘security preparation index’, which will help understand the security concerns affecting people in the city.
Two inspiring thoughts shared this morning. Once in position shall place in public domain a white paper, status report of each Dept (Contd)
