AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and party leader Kumar Vishwas were on Saturday granted bail by a Delhi court in connection with a protest staged by them along with party workers in December 2012 outside Sheila Dikshit’s residence. Dikshit was the Delhi CM then.

The AAP leaders were granted bail after they furnished personal bonds. Metropolitan Magistrate Dheeraj Mittal granted bail to Kejriwal and Vishwas, who along with party leader Manish Sisodia were chargesheeted by Delhi Police under sections 188 (disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant), 341 (wrongfully restraining any person) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

The protest by the AAP was against demolition carried out in parts of the capital.

Kejriwal and Vishwas appeared before the court on Saturday. The court allowed Sisodia’s plea seeking exemption from personal appearance for the day.

In their chargesheet, police alleged the AAP leaders, along with supporters, had staged a protest and shouted slogans outside Dikshit’s residence on December 7, 2012, despite prohibitory orders in place.
