JNU to introduce admission quota for children of employees

The proposal was first discussed in the last AC meeting in October this year.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) may introduce an admission quota for children of its group C and D employees from the next academic session, after a committee set up by the university submitted its report on the proposal.

“The report has been sent to various schools and centres for their feedback. The files will be placed before the Academic Council (AC) which will take a call on the issue. We plan to introduce it from the upcoming academic session,” said JNU Vice-Chancellor S K Sopory.

The proposal was first discussed in the last AC meeting in October this year. If approved, JNU could reserve four or five “supernumerary” seats every year under the quota. “Those applying under the quota will be required to clear the entrance exam with a certain percentage of marks to earn their seats,” said Sopory.
