Jaishankar visits Centre’s projects in South Delhi, calls them pilgrimage spots of development

Terming them ‘Vikas Teerths’ or pilgrimage spots of development, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Saturday visited several projects executed by the Centre in the South Delhi Parliamentary constituency.

These included the Badarpur Eco Park, Mumbai Expressway, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Power Plant Tughlakabad, Waste to Energy Plant, Okhla Sarita Vihar Underpass, EWS Flats Govindpuri, Four-Phase Aerocity, IGNOU Rugby Ground, college in Bhanti Bans, Mahipalpur Underpass, Dwarka Sports Complex, an Amphitheater and a Sports Ground.

“Delhi has been in a bad condition due to pollution for a long time and this eco park will act as ‘new lungs’ for… The Modi government does not just make promises but performs by delivering,” he said at the park.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said that pollution had been a major problem in Delhi and the Centre had taken several steps to remedy the situation.

“Apart from the Eastern-Western Peripheral, the Eco Park being built in Badarpur constituency of South Delhi Lok Sabha will play the most important role in reducing pollution,” Bidhuri said.

Spread over 885 acres, the park will be a major attraction and have many facilities including herbal trees and a lake for boating, said Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.

Sachdeva took the opportunity to attack the Delhi government alleging that every officer probing scams perpetrated by it was being targeted by the AAP.

“Kejriwal wants to keep looting Delhi silently. He has considered himself above the law and the Constitution and that is why he does not want to serve the people of Delhi but wants to rule them. But BJP will never allow this to happen,” he alleged.
