Twenty students from Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) are on an educational tour to New Delhi. Organised by the Delta Force under Operation Sadhbhavana,the administrative staff is being provided by 159 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army DOGRA.
The 11-day educational tour aims to provide an opportunity to the children of J&K to see and experience the development and cultural ethos of the national capital and other prominent cities such as Agra and Jaipur. The trip,which began on September 30,will end on October 10.
Excited about stepping out of Jammu and Kashmir for the first time Nadeem Ahmad,a student of Class VII from Bhella,said: This is the first time I have stepped out of J&K and Im very excited.
Leading the group is Rajesh,who said many students are from poor backgrounds,For them moving out of inaccessible areas like Thalela Puneja,Bhella and Natwas is like a distant dream.
Teachers also said because the areas are far flung and almost inaccessible,the civil administration has also given up on the people of the area.
We want to give these children proper exposure to the outside world so that they can explore more avenues for themselves. said an officer travelling with the group.
Ajay Kumar (14), said I am excited about visiting Agra,I want to see the Taj Mahal. During their three day stay in the Capital,the students will also be visiting Akshardhaam Temple,Red Fort and Jama Masjid.
