It’s been Congress, ‘AAPda’ for 25 years, give BJP a chance to serve: PM

WITH JUST days to go for the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked for an “opportunity to serve” the Capital’s residents, assuring that the BJP would fulfill all its promises in a time-bound manner.

Addressing a rally in Ghonda constituency of Northeast Delhi, Modi also targeted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for alleging that Haryana was “poisoning” Delhi’s water supply. One of the eight seats won by the BJP in the 2020 polls, Ghonda has a mixed population of Haryanvis, Jats, Purvanchalis and Uttarakhandis.

“Afraid of losing the elections, the ‘AAPda’ people are so flustered that they are levelling serious allegations against the people of Haryana…Will the BJP government in Haryana try to poison the PM? … ‘AAPda’ people have committed a big sin, history will not forget… people of Haryana will not forget… A former CM of Delhi has levelled serious charges against the people of Haryana… Are the people of Haryana different from Delhi? Don’t they have their children, family and relatives here? Will they poison their own children,” the PM said.

“All the people in Delhi, rich, poor, senior judges, lawmakers, diplomats, even your Prime Minister, drink the same water that is coming from Haryana… Can anyone imagine the BJP government of Haryana poisoning water supply to kill Modi? What are you saying? What kind of a conspiracy is this,” the PM said.

Modi also accused the AAP of making false promises to slum dwellers. “Modi does not have a home for himself but his dream is to provide a permanent house to everyone… people who are making ‘sheesh mahal’ cannot think about constructing houses for the poor … that is why they are making false promises… These ‘AAPda’ people may appear innocent, but they are deceivers. You must have heard about Charles Sobhraj — he looked harmless, yet he was a notorious criminal. Similarly, these ‘AAPda’ leaders may have innocent faces, but beware, they will deceive and loot you,” he said.

Assuring houses for slum dwellers, he said: “For me, you are only Modi… Go and tell them (slum dwellers) on my behalf with confidence… Modi’s guarantee is that they will get a permanent house…”

In the last five years of the AAP government, only 14 laws were passed in the Delhi Assembly, of which five were to increase the salaries of MLAs, he said.

“We have to teach them a lesson on February 5. Your vote will teach them a lesson… All other states and cities are known for something, like Bengaluru is known for IT, Mumbai for films… Look at Noida, Gurguram… but Delhi could not make a name for itself…We have to give a different identification to Delhi, it should not be known only as the national capital, it should also be known as the number one city in the world,” he said.

Modi said the BJP’s manifesto has promises for all sections of society. “When the BJP forms the government in Delhi after February 8, all the promises that have been made will be fulfilled within time… this is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.

“Twenty-five years have gone by. The first 14 years saw a Congress government, then you saw ‘AAPda’ government for 11 years… These 25 years have been ruined by these two parties… they have ruined two generations… Delhi’s problems have remained the same — traffic jams, broken roads, overflowing sewage, waterlogging, pollution… people are even crying for drinking water,” he said.

“Who can save Delhi from this misery? Not Modi, but your vote, the power of your vote… We have to complete the pending works of the last 11 years and plan a roadmap for the next 25-30 years… That is why I urge you to give Modi an opportunity to serve Delhi… I have done a lot of work across the country, but you have not given me a chance to serve you… For 25 years, you saw the Congress and ‘AAPda’… now give the lotus an opportunity too… I promise to take care of you… I will put all my energy into fulfilling your dreams,” he said.
