Incidentally,Finger Footie was the first game Yellow Monkey Studios started work on when they started developing games for the iPhone last year. “But being a small start-up and with a lot of client commitments,we had to work on it slowly. So the game was delayed by six months. But with the launch now coinciding with the World Cup,things have worked out quite well,” says Prabhu.

He claims Finger Footie is different from other football games in the market. “We saw a lot of games on the iPhone and most of them work like any other console with a soft gamepad or buttons drawn on the screen. With Finger Footie,you can play football on the iPhone screen,but with your fingers,” he says.

Finger Footie will be five-ten minutes of fast-paced game where you can zoom in and out,and even tilt the phone while the ball is in the air to bend it like Beckham. Besides,its top-down view will enable players to plan strategies and implement them with greater ease.

Despite its many user-friendly features,finding a mass market in India will be a tough task for Finger Footie. “India is not a huge market for two reasons — popularity of cricket and non-penetrations of Apple devices,” says Prabhu,who is banking on downloads from Europe,South America and parts of Asia.
