IPL bookie’s family in Delhi complains of threat from gangster Rohit Godara
Gangster Rohit Godara, known to be a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, demanded Rs 10 crore from Delhi businessman Pradeep Jain, the police said.

A Delhi businessman whose son, a bookie, was arrested in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal has allegedly received a threat from gangster Rohit Godara, known to be a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the police said on Saturday.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Farsh Bazar police station.
According to the police, Pradeep Jain received a WhatsApp voice message on September 8 where a man claiming to be Godara threatened him with dire consequences if he did not reply in two days.
“He demanded Rs 10 crore from the Jains as extortion and threatened to kill the entire family,” Surendra Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, said.
When Jain failed to respond, he received a call on September 10 where he was allegedly abused and threatened by the caller.
Jain, along with his elder son Vipin, operates a pipe trading business from their shop in Shahdara. According to a police official, his younger son Nitin has a business in Dubai and is actively involved in online betting operations. He was previously arrested in 2013 for being involved in the IPL spot-fixing case. “There has been no confirmation of Nitin’s link with the threat. But the possibility of his links with the gang is being investigated,” the police official added.
Godara, who hails from Bikaner and has been named in more than 35 criminal cases, is known to be Bishnoi’s associate and handles operations from the UK.
In a Facebook post, he purportedly took responsibility for the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah who was shot in front of his gym on Thursday night. Previously, Godara also took responsibility for the March 2 killing of a Gurgaon-based bookie.
