Husband who shot at model a ‘criminal’, arrested

Police sources said the 22-year-old accused is involved in one murder case in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

The husband of the 21-year-old model who was shot at allegedly by him on Saturday has been nabbed. He had been absconding after the shooting incident but was arrested by Delhi Police on Sunday from Rohini.

Police have detained one more absconding criminal from the spot and recovered the weapon, a  9-mm pistol, from his possession. Victim Neha Sharma is still in ICU at AIIMS. Her condition is said to be still critical.

Police said investigators have found that the accused got upset after he found his model wife chatting online with a man who lives in Jamia Nagar. After sustained interrogation, the accused, known as Prince, told police that he got married to the victim around two months ago but had not disclosed the relationship to their families.

“Last Thursday, Prince came to meet Neha at her parents’ house, where she introduced him to her family as her husband. He stayed with her at their residence in Ashram’s Hari Nagar locality. On Friday night, he was drinking alcohol along with his wife. Around 12 midnight, he checked the Facebook account of Neha on her cellphone and found she had been chatting with another man,” a police source told Newsline.

The source said Prince got angry and started an argument with the victim. The confrontation escalated and he allegedly shot her twice with a pistol. One of the bullets hit her in the stomach ,” police sources said

Police sources said the 22-year-old accused is involved in one murder case in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and four attempt-to-murder cases in Delhi. He allegedly works for a Mehrauli-based real estate business. “He is a ‘proclaimed offender’ of Saket area,” police said.
