The Delhi Police will deploy 25,000 personnel, along with paramilitary forces, across the Capital to maintain law and order on Friday, when the Holi festival will coincide with Friday prayers during Ramzan.
The police said they have identified more than 300 sensitive locations and are keeping an eye on every situation using drones and by monitoring CCTV cameras.
A senior officer said, “We have traced PCR calls made in the last two years on Holi, and recognised the most vulnerable areas. The time period in which most of these calls have been made is between 12 pm and 8 pm… vigilant patrolling will be carried out during this time.”
“Along with other forces, around 1,500 police personnel will be deployed in South district,” the officer added.
The police said meetings with Aman committees and imams of mosques as well as resident welfare associations (RWAs) are being held regularly at every district for peaceful conduct of the festivals.
“Around 1.30 pm, when the Ramzan prayers will start, patrolling will be increased. Police will be vigilant in mixed population areas and JJ clusters… CAPF companies will also be deployed,” a senior officer said.
District police teams will hold joint pickets with Delhi Traffic Police personnel to ensure adherence to traffic rules at major intersections while special teams would be deployed to check drunken driving and red-light jumping, an officer of the Delhi Traffic Police said.
Radar guns will also be deployed to check incidences of overspeeding while drone surveillance will be undertaken to prevent untoward incidents.
