Model Iggy,who has been signed as resident DJ will spin tech-house music,the sort that is yet to pick up in India. “The music scene has been slow to adapt here. It’s been the Goa psytrance influence that has dominated the airwaves and has stalled progression to more sophisticated music appreciation. Hopefully this could bring about the much needed change in our music scene,” he said. Oddly enough,the food menu veers to a Mexican and Latin theme loaded with tapas,instead of the staple British fare. “Who wants to eat a full meal when they’re drinking? Tapas makes sense,” defended Mohit Sharma,manager.

On the opening night,partygoers unwound to the tunes of Jalebee Cartel. Hoegarden beer on tap,a commodity seen often in English pubs,was in popular demand but the lounge bar seemed keen on promoting its tequilas. “Though we have stayed honest to a British concept,no one can deny the magic of tequila,” added Sharma. The guests seemed appreciative enough of the drinks menu. “I don’t know how different the place will be but I will give them top marks for having unusual drinks,” said G Arjun,a guest at the venue.

Final verdict? The décor might tell stories of a bar on wheels,the Lichtenstein posters may create a retro feel,the Southall Biryani may transport you momentarily to London,but Double Decker just about straddles the border between oft seen nightclub and potential lounge.
