Seventeen people were injured in a road accident in Greater Noida after three vehicles, including two trucks and a bus, collided with each other due to poor visibility caused by dense fog on the Eastern Peripheral Highway early on Tuesday, the police said.
According to the police, initially the trucks going from Kasna in Greater Noida towards Faridabad crashed on the highway, following which a bus proceeding towards Mathura rammed into one of the trucks. All the injured were bus passengers, they added.
“The accident occurred at 5.15 am. There are no deaths. Those injured were taken to the GIMS hospital and are getting treated,” said Anuj Kumar, Station House Officer, Ecotech-1, Noida.

The police have cleared the vehicles from the highway and have begun the investigation.
Kumar said that prima facie it seems the accident occurred due to dense fog, as the Air Quality Index in Delhi and NCR states have reached alarming levels.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow’ alert for moderate to dense fog across Delhi-NCR, further aggravating the visibility situation. As of Tuesday morning, visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport stood at just 600 meters. Adding to the discomfort, 100% humidity was recorded in the city, intensifying the pollution impact.
